    Andrew, what do you think about barefoot shoes for those who have flat arches/flat feet? Is it true, in your opinion, that people with flat arches actually need/benefit from cushioning/support in their shoes, or is this yet another misconceptions (like the one which says that we, in general, even those without any foot conditions, *need* support/cushioning in our shoes)? Btw, am I wrong using terms "cushioning" and "support" interchangeably? Thank you in advance.

    Where did you find information on the correct diet and choosing foods etc?

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts 9 годин тому

      There's no "correct diet," because everyone is different. You can read a thousand books and they'll all conflict each other, no matter how meticulously the research. The only thing I 100% trust is my own personal experience. I'm just constantly running little "studies" on my self by adding and removing foods to see what works. Dairy, gluten, and processed foods consistently give me allergies.

    i bought that shoe but the crease fold hurts my foot so bad. how to solve it?

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts 21 годину тому

      When a problem is that bad I would probably just return it. Small problems resolve, big ones usually don't. Could be a sizing issue. If it's too long/short, your foot will bend in the wrong place and create an uncomfortable crease.

    I live in utah and backpack in the uintahs and do dayhikes around the rockies. Would you recommend the ESC or the FG treds?

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts День тому

      Mostly it's a matter of preference. For me the FG sole is protective enough in pretty much all conditions, while providing much better agility and ground feel. The ESC feels more clunky, although it's useful in extreme conditions with sharp shifting rocks.

    Hey Andrew how are you? Man I like those sandals man. I use to able to wear birkenstocks & I still do have them it's just when my foot got wider I couldn't wear them anymore which really really Sucks man cuz I love my birkenstocks. I wish my feet 🦶 wasn't as very very extremely wide as they are but my wife love my extremely wide chubby feet 🦶 with very chubby fat wide toes that are Evenly straight across. I think if my toes wasn't Evenly straight across a lot of footwear wouldn't be a problem for me but because of my toes being Evenly straight across making my foot 6 1/2 inches wide it's a problem for me. My foot Doctor said it's not because of my toes being fat & chubby it's because of how extremely Evenly straight across my toes are & I know that my toes being fat & chubby has a lil something to do with it too. But I really really like the sandals me. They look like Leather too. I like the 0 drop too. I wonder if I can make Custom whole in the straps to make them more wider for my feet 🦶 to fit in them. The toes box area is not a problem for me because my toes would be open. My problem would be trying to get the straps to Buckle up Or cross my feet 🦶. Thanks you so much for sharing this video buddy . You have a good weekend buddy.

    The texting is what ruined the Light Phone II for me. It’s too clunky and awkward, and the whole “it will dissuade you from texting too much” line from the company seems like a cop out for poor design. I don’t text very often, but when I do, I don’t want to fumble with slow responsiveness and poor detection from my device. If they fix that, I might be willing to give the 3rd edition a try.

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts День тому

      Yea, it's def slow, but that was the intention from day one. They easily could have made the phone bigger or given it a faster, less expensive LED screen, so they knew exactly what they were doing with making texting so difficult. That said, the LP3 is bigger with LED, so it'll perform much like a normal smartphone.

    Good job. Given the fact that most of our food is fake and over processed with too many additives. Without diet change my life changer was simple normal saline nose spray. But still have to use an antihistamine. Darn. Looks like a major diet change is in order. Not like I don’t need it anyway.

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts День тому

      Yea, diet is the cornerstone upon which everything else builds. Fortunately, there are lots of delicious healthy recipes to replace junk foods. For example, I though it would be hard to give up dairy, but coconut yogurt and cashew cheese are just good, if not more so. Once you figure out what foods work/don't, you'll never need an antihistamine again. (:

    Hi Andrew! I'm looking for some advice here. I've come to the realization that even if I love barefoot shoes I can't use them for running on pavement specifically due to pain at the ball of my foot. I got a pair of (footshaped, in 'wide') inov-8 trailfly speed which has a stack height of 18-22mm just to have something reliable. I can now run on pavement pain-free but I don't enjoy the cushioning so I'm looking for something in-between. Do you know of any footshaped semi-minimalistic running shoes with a stack height of ~10-15 mm?

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts День тому

      Hey, so which barefoot shoes did you experience pain with on pavement? My rule is 3-4mm max for the sole, because anything thicker than that consistently hurts my feet. The Vivo Primus Lite ua-cam.com/video/ydf1R2Z2KAY/v-deo.html and Vibram V-Trek ua-cam.com/video/gN07dkOloU4/v-deo.html are my two favorite road running shoes and I've never experienced any pain in them. That said, you could also look at the Lono Flow, which is roughly 4mm thick with 2mm of very light cushioning. ua-cam.com/video/CaV4FdEIidw/v-deo.html.

      At a glance the ingredients seem good, but they're unlikely to cure asthma, because it's almost always caused by food allergies and poor breathing technique. I really wish they would have just fixed the battery issue. I tried the Light II cuz eyestrain and went back to Android cuz I'm a parent and need apps for kids' school updates, etc. However my Pixel 5 battery just died, so I ended up buying an iPad Mini to hotspot to my Light II when not home but still need to check in on the kids. And not only does it drain the battery crazy fast, even when I don't use the hotspot and just have phone calls to take, BLERGH. I swear it wasn't this bad out of the box. Any ideas?

    The Light Phone II caused more headaches than what it was worth. It accomplishes the purpose it was designed for, the quality and sound quality was so bad that you didn’t want to use it. The concept is good, I just hope the Light Phone III is a drastic improvement in build quality and sound quality. For someone who talks on the phone I can’t have a phone that sounds like a tin can. The Techless phone it’s superior on all metrics.

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts День тому

      Being lofi was basically the whole point of the LP2. It was designed to discourage people from using it for anything but the absolute basics, where as Techless still has a lot of potential for distraction. The LP3 will be somewhere in between, still very limiting, but with a higher build quality and smoother performance. In terms of sound quality I always use earbuds with the LP2. It's not healthy to hold a phone up to one's head.

    • @Paul-el4zd
      @Paul-el4zd День тому

      @@AndrewFolts Right, but the original purpose of a phone is to make and receive phone calls. When the sound quality is so bad for yourself and the people at the other end, that is a huge problem. Bluetooth connectivity was not always a smooth experience with the Light phone II. Perhaps they fixed that problem. Not sure what potential distractions you are talking about with Wisephone by Techless. The Wisephone I and II currently only has; clock, calculator, camera, maps, music, notes and photos, with excellence sound quality, and group texting. There are downsides to both phones, but for me the sound quality is the most important thing. If the Light Phone III sound quality is way better, I would reconsider getting another one. Unfortunately, Light Phone has a zero return policy (unless you receive a defective phone).

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts День тому

      @@Paul-el4zd I used wired earbuds whenever possible, since Bluetooth just creates more EMF exposure, and the quality was fine with the LP2. But yea, I'm sure the LP3 will be much better in-phone. For returns, you could just sell it on eBay. Especially in the first week or two, you could probably recoup a good 90-95% of the cost, which significantly decreases the risk of getting to test it out.

    All these companies are destroying themselves. Punkt did it by making their third phone a basic android phone. And here light phone is doing it too? Add a camera, use android OS, get rid of the eink screen. What do you have? A typical android phone.

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts День тому

      The LP 2 also used Android, so nothing is changing at all in the user experience, other than the LED screen and camera. It'll still run on LightOS, which is nothing at all like a full Android phone. No app store, just the same minimal tools LP has always had.

    Very good review. I’m not sure if I should get the LP 2 or 3. While the eink would be good for my eyes and brain, it doesn’t seem very good for texting.

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts 2 дні тому

      If you plan on texting a lot, then I would 100% get the LP3. Texting on the LP2 is very difficult, although that can be a plus if you're trying to reduce your keyboard time and just call or hang with people in person. E ink is nice, but it's not too big a deal if you're only using the LP3 for say 30-60 min per day or less.

    Hi Andrew, love your posts / reviews. Can you compare the tracker FG II to the Forest ESC? Would like to see your opinion.

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts 3 дні тому

      Generally, I prefer the Tracker FG, since it's got a better balance of ground feel and protection. It's also waterproof. The Tracker ESC has a thicker more heavy feeling tread that's very protective but doesn't provide much ground feel. It is better for warmer weather, though, not being insulated, and does have a more flexible upper, as well as being slightly wider. I'd love if they made a boot with the FG sole but a Tracker Forest upper. That'd be perfect.

    I think that light phone should release a 3 e ( short for e ink) that is the form factor and e ink screen of the lightphone 2 but with all the updates they can fit in it from the lightphone 3

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts 3 дні тому

      Yea, I'd be totally on board for that! I think a larger screen and faster e ink performance (which is possible now) would be perfect. Definitely email them about it, because they take feedback seriously. I have too.

    • @johnmonk66
      @johnmonk66 2 дні тому

      Agree 100%. They became famous for the eink screen, not they are just making a low end android phone and slapping their name into it. There is another company coming out with an eink phone designed like a blackberry, it will put light phone and punkt out of business since bothe punkt and light phone just make android phones now

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts 2 дні тому

      @@johnmonk66 Ha, the Light Phone's not going anywhere, it's more popular than ever. In fact, apart from a few hardcore minimalists (like me), the e ink screen was the most hated part of the LP2 for almost everyone. As always, the point of Light Phone as a company is not just what they offer, but what they choose to take away. I've tried e ink Android smartphones, and they're the worst of both worlds, being both distracting (with full app store access) and limited with poor memory, cheap components, dodgy Chinese monitoring, and lousy camera/video performance.

    Maybe a little off topic, but have you seen the new shoes from Splay? There's the Freestyle 2.0, which is good, but the new "101" model seems like a really cool leather sneaker with an extra wide toe box! Do you plan to check them out?

  • @kateowens45

    Be careful ordering these shoes! I ordered the Lono Flow white sneaker, I needed sizing advice and gave the company representatve my foot measurements. The company suggested I get a size larger than my regular size so that I could fit an insert and wear thin socks. I did that and now I have a shoe that is very snug all around for barefeet- no socks or insert. I decided to keep them and wear them for streetwear when I needed a white sneaker for limited periods of time. It has to be for SHORT periods of time. The shoe feels very tight after an hour's wear. The toe box is shallow top to bottom so that my big toe has pressure from the shoe top. The shoe is sized too small and the shallow toebox causes my big toes to hurt from the pressure. First time I ever had that problem from any shoe or boot. I am very dissatisfied with the shoe and will never order another of this brand. An 8.5 size is more like a 7 US

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts 3 дні тому

      Sizing is such a strange thing. My Flow's fit true to size and were exactly as long as my Vivo's (both 11's). Sometimes I think it must have more to do with individual foot shapes and the shape of the shoe than the length itself.

    hi Andrew thanks for the video. I am looking at shoe that I can wear the whole year in the north west of England. I am looking for something that I can use in the city when it’s raining. I’m Modi but also maybe to go to East Trail and ride my bike, I am between the primus all weather and the knit which one do you recommend?

    • @AndrewFolts
      @AndrewFolts 4 дні тому

      I prefer the Knit, due to being more breathable, comfortable, and wide. But if your feet aren't too wide and you need the water resistance up top, then the AW would be the better pick. Alternatively, you could look at the Magna FG, which has the same sole, but with a wider water resistant leather upper and breathable wool blend collar. ua-cam.com/video/NYIWI47hooA/v-deo.html

      @@simoneala3 The Knit does have a wraparound sole that will keep out some wet grass, mud, etc, as long as it's not too high.
